Common Craft and Detroit Loch City (DLC) are teaming up to invite you to reflect creatively on your deepest wishes and make hand dipped candles as unique as you.
Using donated gently-loved candles, colors, and scents, DLC’s Sarah D will guide you through an activity where you will imagine your life as if your wishes came true.
With cauldrons of melted wax at the center of the room, we will introduce the reflection activity, then you will learn to shape, add texture, and layer colors onto your candles.
You will have time to plan and craft, with most of the two hours spent building out the details of your wish through the act of dipping repeatedly and watching your candle take form.
You will have time to make 1-3 custom candles, each candle is a one-of-a-kind work of art you can take home. It’s up to you to decide if and when you light it.
This is a small-ish group workshop allowing for trial and error in good company, register today! Even if you have never made candles, this event is for everyone.
Safety notice: This course provides general information about hand dipping candles. The event involves the use of heat, hot wax, fragrance, dye, and other materials that can pose risk of injury, fire, and/or property damage. By enrolling in this workshop, you acknowledge that you are responsible for following all safety guidelines, using appropriate equipment, and exercising caution throughout.
